How we are funded

As a non-profit organisation we rely on donations from the community to help us stay in the air. Individuals and companies can donate direct to the service – click here to donate now.

ENERGEX

ENERGEX, our major sponsor since 1994, recently demonstrated its ongoing commitment to supporting our capability with a multi-million dollar sponsorship agreement. We sincerely thank ENERGEX management and staff for their ongoing support. We also thank the many ENERGEX subscribers who, through their generous donations, have done so much to ensure that the service continues to operate.

Federal Government

Federal Government funding is supplied for specific projects, rather than as an ongoing source of income. A grant of $500,000 from the Federal Government through the Regional Partnerships program, enabled the service to relocate from a small hanger to a purpose built facility at the Sunshine Coast Airport, which will meet our needs for the next 25 years.

State Government

The State Government provides a grant to each of the four Queensland-based community helicopter providers. This grant is administered within Helicopter Services Unit which is part of the Department of Emergency Services. The Department also administers the Agreement between the Government and the Service that provides the basis for our operations in cooperation with State Government agencies.

Local Government

Local Government organisations provide significant support to the Service. The numerous shire councils throughout our area of operations continue to acknowledge the contribution that we make to the safety of their communities through annual grants and consideration of specific requests for funding through arrangements such as community assistance schemes and the like.

Community based organisations

Local community service organisations, sporting clubs and smaller groups demonstrate the high regard the public has for our service. The extent of their support is truly gratifying. Mention must be made of the effort made by:

  • Apex Club of Alexandra Headland
  • Rotary, Lions, Lionesses, Probus and other service clubs
  • CRISIS groups of Murgon and Kingaroy
  • We are grateful for the aid from the smaller communities in the hinterland and Wide Bay areas, especially given drought conditions.
  • Among the recreational clubs who show annual support are a variety of motoring, motorcycle and sporting clubs.
