Natalie Ward

Joined AGL Action Rescue Helicopter: June 2008

Experience:

I am currently studying Business Marketing at the University of the Sunshine Coast, so working with AGL Action Rescue’s Business Development Officer Colin Brown gives me the chance to apply what I’ve learnt in the classroom to real life situations.

Reason for volunteering:

The reasons I enjoy working with the Rescue Helicopter are not only because of the intrinsic rewards and satisfaction that comes from helping out a charity organisation, but because I feel I am giving something back to the people that helped save my life. In December 2007 I was pulled unconscious from the surf at Marcoola beach, the Rescue Helicopter transported me to Nambour hospital, where I spent the next three days in a coma. Every second it took for me to get to the hospital decreased my chances of recovering. Giving my time back to Action Rescue is very important to me, as I might not have that time to give if it weren’t for their help.

Hobbies:

My family, surfing and reading.
