Who We Help

When and where.

From Gladstone to Tweed heads, Fraser Island to Kingaroy, every year we help rescue hundreds of people who need our life-saving support.

  • On the Sunshine Coast most of our rescues occur at weekends when people are travelling or having fun
  • Around Bundaberg the busiest day is Thursday
  • Our new neonatal crib is now used to airlift rural and regional hospitals to Brisbane
  • The Bundaberg team carry regular medical missions in the rural and remote areas in the far north.

This table shows where AGL Action Rescue Helicopter operates.

Region Gender Duties Days

Sunshine Coast 133 (75%) 43 (25%) 146 (69%) 65 (31%) 52 73 58 61 64 89 95

An overall view.

Take a look at the table. Our most common call outs are for:

  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Heart and breathing problems
  • Falling from motor bikes and horses
  • Bites from snakes and spiders and bee stings that require hospital intervention.

More medical missions are conducted than the total of all other tasks combined - 58% at Bundaberg and 51% on the Sunshine Coast. Primary or on-scene responses comprise the larger part of the medical missions. This figure is currently influenced by the fact that there are no flight doctors based at Bundaberg or the Sunshine Coast.
