Emergency Services Day

This event will be held at Stockland Park, Kawana Waters on Sunday, 1 June, 2008 between 10.00am and 2.00pm to raise awareness of the emergency services and how they interact and engage to create a seamless safety network on the Sunshine Coast.

Energex Community Rescue Helicopter will be in attendance alongside the State Emergency Service (SES), Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), Queensland Fire and Rescue Service and The Queensland Police Service.

Each service will man its own 'stall' and conduct demonstrations throughout the day. There will be children's entertainment as well as food stalls and a sausage sizzle. Sponsorship is expected from The Sunshine Coast Daily and Hot 91 FM.

The event has been organised by students from The University of the Sunshine Coast who have worked hard to ensure this day passes as a successful community event.

The students tell us that  "...[the] event is unique and innovative and has never been done on the Sunshine Coast or to this scale anywhere else in Queensland".
