Energex Community Rescue ‘Ride For Life’
Energex Community Rescue Helicopter are proud to announce our inaugural cycling fundraising event; the Community Rescue Ride For Life™.
Taking place on Sunday, 18 May, 2008 on the Caloundra beachfront, the Community Rescue Ride For Life™ is an exciting new fundraising event aimed at cycling enthusiasts, recreational riders, fitness freaks, families and corporate teams as well as all members of the community.
Energex Community Rescue Helicopter has been in operation for nearly 30 years, and last year flew over 850 missions, at an average of more than two a day, supporting the Sunshine Coast community and wider. Due to this demand, we rely on vital funding from local businesses and the general public.
The aim is to achieve $20,000 through both participants’ sponsorships and donations from local business. Several local companies have already pledged their sponsorship to the event, and this figure will go a long way towards helping purchase important equipment for the chopper crew; allowing them to assist the community better and more efficiently.
The ride is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 18 May, 2008 in and around the Caloundra beachfront. There will be three riding options, depending on the motivation of the participant; 10km, 20km and 40km, as well as a 10km walk for those who prefer to stay on two feet!
The circuit itself is 10km and will be securely monitored by SES, Police and experienced volunteers. There is a distance to suit every cyclist and there will be free entertainment, prizes and ample food and beverages for sale on your return. There will be market stalls, a jumping castle and children’s face-painting after the cycling.
All entrants will be entitled to a free souvenir backpack, t-shirt and water bottle, which can be collected before the race. The team from radio station Hot 91 are in training for the event and have informed us they are “…lean, mean, cool and fast…” Why not enter and see if you can hold them to their word? Or better still, beat them!
There is ample parking in the surrounding streets and marshals will be on hand to direct all traffic.
