Reach our target and help the ENERGEX Community Rescue Helicopter Service.
The Service operates three helicopters from two bases situated at the Sunshine Coast and Bundaberg airports.
On 20 January 2006, an official ceremony marked the start of construction of a new hangar for the Sunshine Coast base facilitated by a grant of $500,000 under the Federal Government’s Regional Partnerships scheme.
The building area in the new facility covers 1051 square metres, 874 of which are dedicated to helicopter housing and maintenance. The additional 177 square metres on the lower level incorporate offices for the CEO, Chief Pilot and Crew Chief, a simulator room, administration and marketing areas, a kitchen and an operational area which is vastly superior to that in the previous hangar. An extra 177 square metres on the upper floor supplies the crew sleeping quarters, rest rooms and a relaxing area, as well as a large training/conference room.
The Bundaberg aircraft operates out of the RFDS hangar at Bundaberg airport. The aircraft and both bases are equipped with a range of capabilities to enable communication between the bases and other emergency services.
